After graduating, Julia spent two years with the UK Radiological Protection Board computer modelling the effects of radiation leaks. She then moved to the European Patent Office where she examined patents in the physics field for over 8 years. She speaks fluent French and conversational German.
Julia joined the patent profession in 1997. She began her career at D Young & Co as a trainee patent attorney and became a Partner in 2006.
Julia regularly attends hearings at the European patent office before the Examining Division, Opposition Division and the Boards of Appeal. She also provides infringement opinions for UK companies. Julia's clients have included blue chip technology companies; UK, US and Japanese corporations; SMEs, universities, start ups and individual inventors. Julia has experience of the differing requirements across the complete spectrum of clients from individual inventors to international corporations.
Julia is an Examiner for the European Qualifying Examination, which is the body responsible for assessing candidates for entry onto the official Register of European Patent Attorneys.
